Week 4 Reflection

Although I mainly work with faculty, I find myself thinking how each chapter effect my department directly or indirectly. My department has to considers data security every time we create an application for the web.

Last week, I had to send it in my notebook to HP for repair. It had several problems. HP ended up replacing the logic board. I had to use my Mac notebook to do my assignments. Using Firefox on my Mac was slower and less responsive than on my PC. I would rather use my Mac, But WebTycho is forcing me to use a PC for school work. I prefer to work on my Mac especially for video editing, sound editing, or photo editing,

Week 3 Reflection

One thing I found hard this week was our weather. We have been experiencing very warm weather the last two weeks. How warm? It has been in the low to upper 80’s. Which make it very hard to stay inside and do my classwork.

Besides having great weather, I enjoyed the assignment creating my own smartphone, The smartphone I use is not that smart sometimes. I am hoping the iPhone will be smarter and cross-platform.

I found the information about IPv6 quite interesting. I think IPv6 will change Online learning for the better. Especially when it comes to video conferencing, and streaming video and audio.

Week 2 - Techorati

Besides helping Instructors with their webenhanced or online courses, I also help Instructors with understanding computers in a general sense. For instance some typical questions are "Why is my computer running so slow?" " Should I buy new computer?" Do I need to upgrade Vista? How do I answer these questions without being to technical? Before I answer their questions, I ask several questions of my own. How old is your computer? What do you use it for? Do other people use your computer? From the answers they give me, I able to give them information to help them a decision about their computer. I think by allowing an instructor to make their own decision on what they should do with their computer, raises their comfort level. I can then suggest new instructional tools or web tools. For example, our content processor page or our web based grade book.

So, for me chapter 2 was nice review.

Here is the link to our Content Processor page.

I also recommend hardware and software for my department.
